Agatha Elizabeth Mount Dobbins
Resident of Litchfield for 70 years

LITCHFIELD – Agatha Elizabeth (Mount) Dobbins, 94, died peacefully on December 1, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Wm. David Dobbins who died in 2006 after 54 years of marriage.

Agatha was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on March 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Morris Blake Mount and Elizabeth Fairfax (Lindsay) Mount. She was raised in Lynchburg and Charlottesville, Virginia and attended Randolph Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg.

In 1948, she moved to Litchfield where she worked at the Connecticut Junior Republic prior to her marriage in 1951. She had been a faithful communicant of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church since she arrived in Litchfield, was an avid bridge player, and was a past member of the Women’s Aid for the Junior Republic, the Women’s Forum, and the Litchfield Country Club.

Mrs. Dobbins is survived by her daughter, Anne Lee Dobbins of Waterbury; her sons, David (Jane) Dobbins of Wickford, RI, John (Mianna) Dobbins of Apex, NC, and Peter (Michelle) Dobbins of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Matthew Dobbins of Odenton, MD, Daniel Dobbins of Cary, NC, Nathan Dobbins of Raleigh, NC, and Elizabeth (Jonathan) Pannell of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and was a loving presence to her nieces and nephews, step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and friends. She was a source of kindness for everyone who met her, and she engendered affectionate relationships in every area of her life.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 29th at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 25 South Street, Litchfield. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
