Obituary for Joan Estelle Brodski
HARWINTON – Joan Estelle Brodski, 81, passed away on September 13, 2019 at Valerie Manor with her loving family by her side.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 29, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Estelle (Tryonas) Schreier.
After high school, Joan worked as a secretary at Sperry Gyroscope. After raising her family, she managed a restaurant and later worked as a receptionist and as a shipping and receiving clerk for Albea.
Joan was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Deborah Mitchell and husband, Thomas; and granddaughter, Debriana, all of Harwinton, grandson, John Michael Brodski and his wife Katherine of Brookfield, granddaughter, Katrina Brodski of New Milford, and two great grandchildren, Colton and Hunter Jeffery Brodski of Brookfield. She was predeceased by her son, John Brodski and her grandson, Brian Mitchell.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, James P. Casey Rd., Bristol.
