Thomaston- Sally Margarette (Douchane) Freer, 83, of Thomaston, formerly a long time resident of Bethlehem, passed away on November 1, 2019 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Francis “Frank” Freer.
Sally was born in Torrington on June 30, 1936 to the late Robert and Alsada (Bickford) Douchane.
She was the ultimate care giver beginning at age 5. She helped to raise and care for her siblings and continued to help and care for many family members and friends. She was happiest when she was helping someone. She was a very loyal and devoted member of St. Paul’s Church for more than 60 years.
Sally is survived by her four children, Debra Green of Thomaston, Karen Judson of Chichester, NH. Robert Freer of Torrington and Betsy Desmarais of Middlebury, eight grandchildren, Donald, Page and Francis Freer, David and Douglas Green, April Judson, and Tyler and Jenna Desmarais, and several nieces and nephews.
Sally was predeceased by her son Frank Freer, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 8, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 802 Bantam Rd. Bantam. Burial will follow in Forest View Cemetery, Winsted. Calling hours are Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd., Litchfield.
